On March 8, 2016, NASA named Nevada-based Arcata Associates as one of the winners of the 2015 Small Business Industry Awards (SBIA) at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Arcata CEO and President Tim Wong received the award for Outstanding Small Business Subcontractor during the 2016 NASA Industry Forum meeting, hosted by the NASA's Office of Small Business Programs. The SBIA Program recognizes every fiscal year one small business prime contractor, small business subcontractor, and large business prime contractor for outstanding efforts in support of NASA's mission. Nominations were received from all 10 NASA centers from across the country.

"To receive this agency-wide award is a huge honor, and it's an acknowledgement of the outstanding work that our employees provide as a subcontractor to Inuteq and to NASA on the Research Facilities & Engineering Support Services (RF&ESS) contract," said Wong. The award is the third NASA agency-wide award that Arcata has received. Arcata has twice been named NASA's Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year, in 2011 and 2008.

In its nomination, Arcata's 2015 accomplishments include:

  • Playing a key role in the successful transition of the workforce to a new prime contractor with a nearly 99% retention rate.
  • Supporting small business initiatives. Arcata partnered with the AFRC to participate in the Nevada Aviation Symposium, which provided NASA an opportunity to communicate its mission with an audience of large and small businesses and local, state and federal government officials.
  • Outstanding and responsive customer service support, noting in particular its innovative approach to software interface issues.

"American small businesses play a critical role in making space exploration and scientific discovery possible," said Glenn Delgado, associate administrator of NASA's Small Business Program. "As NASA continues to reach for new heights, we're also helping to create jobs and support small businesses right
