Arcata Associates, Inc. received NASA’s Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award for its work on the Research Facilities and Engineering Support Services (RF&ESS) contract at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), Edwards, Calif. Arcata also received two Center-level awards:  the NASA DFRC 2008 Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award and the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) 2008 Small Business Subcontractor of the Year.

NASA Deputy Administrator, Shana Dale, and Assistant Administrator – NASA Office of Small Business Programs, Glenn Delgado, presented the awards to Arcata President Tim Wong and his staff at the 1st Annual NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory Small Business Symposium and Awards Ceremony in Washington D.C. on November 18, 2008.

As the RF&ESS prime contractor at NASA DFRC, Arcata personnel helps to maintain NASA’s Center of Excellence for atmospheric flight research and operations. NASA Dryden is critical in carrying out the Agency's missions of space exploration, space operations, scientific discovery, and aeronautical research and development (R&D).  Arcata performs engineering, operations, maintenance, information technology, and multimedia services.

As a subcontractor to CSC, Arcata supports the NSSC in three primary areas: 1) Grants processing; 2) Human Resources; and 3) Financial Management. The NSSC, formally implemented in 2006, consolidates similar business activities from across all the NASA Centers to service multiple internal customers with the goal to lower costs, achieve higher service levels and enhance overall organizational value.
