Arcata's 4th Annual Community Connections Golf Tournament raises over $14,000 for Charity

Arcata's 4th Annual Arcata Community Connections Golf Tournament raised $14,183 for four local charities in the Antelope and Victor Valleys. The tournament, attended by 88 golfers, took place at the Lake Muroc Golf Course at Edwards AFB, Calif. on Friday, June 12, 2009. Golfers and volunteers gathered after the tournament for a buffet style lunch, special drawings and awards ceremony at the Officer's Club.

"Our annual charity golf tournament brings together representatives from NASA, the Air Force, contractors, corporate sponsors, and local businesses and organizations to raise money for good causes in the local area and have a great time, " said Golf Tournament Director, David Recce, who is also Arcata's Vice President, Research Facilities and Engineering Support Services (RF&ESS) Program.

This year, the tournament proceeds benefited four organizations:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Antelope Valley
Boys & Girls Club of the Victor Valley
Edwards AFB 95th Security Forces Squadron Key Spouses
Desert High School Football/Basketball Programs

A special drawing was held in which the prizes were a Ray Allen autographed basketball jersey and basketball. This year, the jersey was won by Bryce Anglin (son of Stacey Mills, RF&ESS employee). The basketball went to Miguel Vigil, RF&ESS employee. Other lucky golfers went home with prizes that included: Nike golf clubs, a Nintendo Wii, an iPOD Nano, a digital camera, autographed golf artwork, and tickets to Maverick's and Jethawks baseball tickets.
