Training Support

Arcata has a long legacy in the training business supporting the Air Force, Navy, Army, and National Guard. For the Navy we have installed specialized instrumentation for the Pacific Missile Range Facility and the Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE). In addition, we operate and maintain scoring and communication systems in support of US Navy aircrew training on both the East and West Coasts. For the Army, we are assisting with the consolidation of live, virtual and constructive training operations and support systems worldwide. Furthermore, we have designed and installed marksmanship training range systems and ballistic analysis systems. For the National Guard, we have designed and installed ordnance scoring systems in Georgia, Indiana and Kansas.

Since 1979, Arcata began supporting the aircrew training exercises at the Nellis AFB ranges in Nevada, the most sophisticated Air Force training range in the country. We played an integral role in the development of the data link systems, tactical scoring, communication, and RF systems necessary to conduct live aircrew training missions such as Red Flag and Green Flag. We also developed the network that brings radar and threat emitter data to the range control center for command and control, post mission pilot debriefing, and weapons analysis. Our role includes operating and maintaining a broad range of equipment to accomplish real time video recording, weapons analysis, radar threat parameter verification, threat signal simulation, and ordnance scoring. In addition, Arcata supports these activities by performing maintenance and operations support scheduling, quality assurance and configuration, logistics, project management, technical publications, range safety and security, and sustaining engineering.

Besides operating and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment to create a realistic training environment, Arcata merges and provides analysis of aircrew debriefing data for pilot feedback. Support activities include: mission analysis, audio-visual and presentations management, database management, and computer/LAN management and administration.

We have also performed range operations and maintenance of smaller Air Force aircrew training ranges across the country such as, Barksdale AFB, Cannon AFB, Luke AFB, Mountain Home AFB, Seymour Johnson AFB and Shaw AFB. Our activities included ordnance scoring, heavy equipment operation, range decontamination, and electronics and facilities maintenance.
