For over 40 years, Arcata has supported Red Flag exercises at the Nevada Test & Training Range (NTTR).  Red Flag is considered the most challenging and realistic aircrew combat training exercise in the world. The chief focus of the two-week long exercise is aerial combat, and it’s meant to prepare warfighters for a host of scenarios including fighting against near-peer threats using adversary tactics in a “real as it gets” environment. To maximize combat readiness in a variety of scenarios, Red Flag includes, amongst other variables, an array of different aircraft, weather conditions, and the inclusion of other military branches and allies to ensure interoperability. Space and cyberspace threats are also used to ensure that the Air Force is ready for the threats of tomorrow.
